03

Furniture & props

Furnish the booth with starter objects or your own 3D models.

How do I add tables, chairs and other furniture?

Select Furniture & props beside Components in the left library. Search or browse the eight starter models: round café table, meeting table, coffee table, meeting chair, bar stool, lounge sofa, potted plant and TV on stand. Click to add one, or drag a starter item into Plan or 3D.

Select a prop to move, rotate, copy, duplicate, group or delete it using the existing tools. Furniture may overlap so chairs can sit beneath tables. Check clearances visually; props do not generate connectors, print graphics or system BOM items. Plan and PDF drawings show their footprints or envelopes; 3D shows the actual model.

Can I use my own models or furniture from SketchUp 3D Warehouse?

Choose Upload 3D model (.glb) in Furniture & props. A successful upload places the object and adds it under Your models for reuse in other projects in this browser. Click a saved thumbnail to place another copy.

Open the furniture in a SketchUp version that supports GLB export, then choose File → Export → 3D Model → GLTF Binary (.glb). This is a file upload workflow; the studio does not search 3D Warehouse directly. The existing Import SketchUp exchange still imports recognized beMatrix components, not arbitrary furniture.

Use a self-contained GLB 2.0 file up to 10 MB, with embedded textures no larger than 4096 pixels and at most 200,000 triangles. Each dimension must be between 10 mm and 20 m. Export without Draco, Meshopt or KTX2 compression, skeletons or morph targets. Static materials and textures are preserved in 3D; animation is not played.

How do I set furniture dimensions and rotation?

Select one starter or uploaded prop and click Scale, or press S, to open the size panel in Plan or 3D. The same controls appear under Resize furniture / prop in the inspector. Choose Inches or Millimeters and enter Width, Depth or Height. Press Enter or leave the field to apply. Keep proportions is on by default; turn it off to change one dimension independently. Each dimension can be 10 mm to 20 m, without the frame catalog's 62 mm size steps. Click Done or press Esc to close the panel.

Resizing a booth copy changes only that copy and supports Undo and Redo. Starter props also have a Finish color control. Uploaded materials keep their original colors. To set the size for future copies, click Resize below an uploaded thumbnail in Your models. Library size changes save immediately in this browser and do not resize existing booth copies.

Rotation accepts an exact angle in degrees for props. X, Y and Elevation set exact positions in millimeters; drag and move arrows still use 62 mm steps. R rotates by 90°. Undo and Redo restore placements and dimension edits. Ungroup multiple selected objects before resizing one.

How do I delete an uploaded furniture model?

In Furniture & props, click Delete below the model in Your models. It moves to Deleted models and disappears from the active library. Use Undo delete immediately, or expand Deleted models and click Restore later, including after a reload.

Deleting from the library preserves copies already placed in current or saved booths, including their sizes, textures and JSON backups. The model data remains stored in this browser for those projects and restoration. To remove a copy from the booth itself, select it on the drawing and use the toolbar Delete button or Delete key; Undo restores that placement.

Do uploaded models save with my booth?

Autosave and named projects retain the placed furniture. Uploaded model data lives in this browser's model library and is shared by its saved projects. Clearing browser data removes both. A missing model appears as a translucent box; upload the original GLB again to restore it.

Export JSON embeds the models used in that project once each, alongside their placements and dimensions. Upload JSON restores those models into the receiving browser's library. Backups containing models can be up to 100 MB with 100 different uploaded models; repeated copies share one model. Models saved only in Your models but not placed in the exported booth are not included.

Furniture and props are excluded from the system BOM and assembly instructions. PDF drawings show dimensioned envelopes. Export SketchUp includes prop geometry and base material colors, but does not include uploaded texture maps or animation. Export JSON preserves the original GLB for continued editing here.

04

Building your booth

Place your first frame, then turn it into a complete layout.

How do I add frames and other components?

Use the Components library on the left. Expand a group, such as 992 mm frames, or search by part name, size or SKU. Search opens matching groups automatically.

Click a part to add it, or drag it from the library onto the drawing board. Switch between Plan and 3D using the tabs above the drawing. Select a placed component to see its properties in the inspector on the right.

How do I set the booth size?

In Floor area above the component library, choose inches or millimeters, enter Width and Depth, then click Set floor area. For a 20 × 10 ft booth, enter 240 × 120 inches.

View floor fits the boundary in Plan. Center on layout moves the boundary around your components. Changing the floor size does not move or scale the design. Parts can extend beyond the boundary; Select outside components helps you find them.

The floor is a planning guide. It saves with the project, but is not included in the BOM, PDF drawings or SketchUp geometry export.

How do I move or raise a component?

Select a component and drag it in Plan or 3D. A selected group moves together. In 3D, hold Shift while dragging the selection to raise or lower it.

Press M or click Move for axis arrows. Drag an arrow to move along that axis in 62 mm steps; the arrows follow the component’s rotation. Release to apply the move, or press Esc to cancel the preview. Done exits Move mode.

For an exact position, type X, Y or elevation in the inspector. The field steppers and drag tools use 62 mm increments; holding Alt does not disable those steps.

What is the quickest way to build a row or stack?

Select a frame, furniture / prop or group, then press D or click Duplicate. Hover a plus button to preview a copy, then click to place it flush beside, in front of, behind, above or below the selection. Directions follow the selected component’s rotation.

Immediately after placing the duplicate, type x5 and press Enter to make five copies total, including the first duplicate (the original stays too). Repeat uses exactly the same direction and spacing, including rotation and elevation. For a group, each copy repeats the entire group. You can also use the Copies field and Repeat button. Enter x1 through x100, within the 5,000-component project limit.

All extra copies are added together: a blocked or below-floor repeat adds none, and Undo removes the extra copies in one step while keeping your first duplicate. The last copy stays selected. Done or Esc closes Repeat; selecting something else or starting another edit ends the shortcut. To make another array, duplicate again first. Text fields and dialogs keep their normal keyboard controls.

Occupied positions and positions below the floor are hidden. Esc or Cancel exits placement. Doors cannot be stacked above other doors; frames can go above doors.

Use Ctrl/Cmd+C and Ctrl/Cmd+V when you want a copy in clear space beside the original, ready to move. Copies retain spacing, rotations, elevations, notes and graphic assignments. The component clipboard lasts for the current app session.

How do I join edges or make a corner?

Press N (or E), or click Edge snap. Click the edge you want to move, then the fixed edge you want to join. The selection moves and rotates to fit. In 3D you can also choose top and bottom rails.

For a corner, choose the moving edge, hover a fixed frame’s upright rail, then choose Front side or Back side. End keeps an inline joint. Sloped and curved edges themselves are not snap targets; supported curved frames expose their straight end rails.

To align specific corners instead of entire rails, switch to Corner points. See the point-to-point instructions below for top-corner alignment and 90° placement.

A selected group moves as one assembly. A successful snap is one Undo step; collisions, invalid mates and below-floor placements are rejected. Esc cancels.

How do I snap one top corner to another at 90 degrees?

Corner points provides exact point-to-point snapping. Top-to-top alignment matches the selected corners in position and height, even when the two panels have different heights. Keep angle moves the corner into place without rotating the panel.

Corner dots are available on straight panels, doors, posts, trapeziums and flat LEDskin panels, including supported tipped frames. Curves, PIE frames, LED corners and furniture do not offer corner dots; use available straight end rails in Edge snap for curved frames.

Select an assembly first to move it together, then choose a target outside that selection. A successful snap is one Undo step. If a collision or below-floor placement blocks the snap, nothing moves; choose another corner, face or angle. Esc cancels.

  1. Click Edge snap or press N (or E), then choose Corner points.
  2. Choose 90° corner to turn the moving panel perpendicular to the target. Use Front face / Back face to choose the physical depth face.
  3. In Plan, choose Top corners. In 3D, both top and bottom corner dots are visible on the chosen face.
  4. Click the top corner of the panel you want to move, then the top corner of the panel that should stay fixed.
How do I measure between two points?

Click Measure or press T. Click a start point and an end point to see the straight-line distance in millimeters and inches, plus the X, Y and height differences. A line joins points A and B, with a live preview before the second click.

Click a corner dot for an exact profile corner. Front face / Back face chooses the depth face; Plan also offers Top corners / Bottom corners. In Plan, other clicks pick floor points. In 3D, click any component surface or the floor. Distances include height, even when viewed from above.

Drag to pan in Plan or orbit in 3D; measurement clicks do not select or move components. You can switch views with the measurement visible. Click another point to begin a new measurement, Clear to reset, or Done / Esc to exit. Measurements are temporary and do not change the saved project.

How do I resize a frame or post?

Select one supported component, then press S or click Scale. Use the size controls or drag an edge in Plan or 3D. Sizes change in 62 mm steps, and the opposite edge stays fixed during a drag. S02 corner posts support 496–2976 mm; straight frames, curved frames and S04 posts support 248–2976 mm.

Straight rectangular frames support width and height changes. Curved frames support height, or installed length when tipped; their radius and bend angle stay fixed. Posts change length only: S04 keeps its square profile, and S02 keeps its 45° or 60° corner. Doors and accessories keep their catalog sizes. Ungroup a saved assembly before scaling an individual member.

Graphic assignments and notes are retained. Some resized parts use placeholder ordering codes; review the SKU before ordering. Esc cancels an active preview or exits Scale.

Where are the 630 and 631 S02 corner posts?

Open Corner posts in Components, or search for 630, 631 or S02. 630 2418 S02 is the 45° post; 631 2418 S02 is the 60° post. Both start at 2418 mm. Select one and use Scale → Length (mm) to choose any 62 mm step from 496 through 2976 mm.

The two angled 62 mm mounting faces appear as Slot 1 and Slot 2 in Edge snap. Snap a frame end to either slot to align it with that face. These posts remain upright; Rotation turns their direction in Plan. They save, duplicate and appear in the bill of materials and drawing/SketchUp exports at their chosen length.

The profile is simplified; internal webs, thread-slot details and end caps are not modeled. Resized ordering codes follow the manufacturer’s length pattern and are marked Verify ordering code in the inspector. S02 connection hardware remains unresolved in Review joints until a supported assembly recipe is available.

How do I rotate a wall or lay a frame flat as a roof?

Press R or click Rotate to turn the selection 90° around a shared pivot. Multiple selected parts rotate together and retain their spacing. The Rotation field in the inspector also turns the selection.

For a supported individual frame, use Frame tilt → Lay flat · roof. Edge snap can also tip supported frames and curves to fit a chosen rail. Remove an attached baseplate before laying a frame flat, and ungroup before tipping an individual piece.

How do I add a baseplate?

Select one frame with a straight installed bottom rail at least 992 mm wide, then click Add baseplate in the inspector. The 992 × 496 mm plate follows the frame when you move, rotate, copy or delete it.

For a shared plate, Shift-select two touching, aligned frames with bottom rails at the same elevation and a combined width of at least 992 mm, then choose Add shared baseplate. Remove existing individual plates first. Move or copy both host frames together.

The BOM counts one baseplate set and two M8 pin connectors per attachment. Remove baseplate removes the attachment without removing the frame.

05

Selection & views

Work with assemblies and find your way around the drawing.

How do I select and group several parts?

Shift-click components to change the selection, or press B and drag a selection box. Any component the box touches is selected, including parts behind others in 3D. Hold Shift while box-selecting to add to the selection. Ctrl/Cmd+A selects all components, including offscreen parts.

Choose Group or press Ctrl/Cmd+G to save the selected parts as an assembly. Selecting any member then selects the whole group, even after saving and reopening. Ungroup or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+G separates membership without moving the parts.

You can move and rotate several selected parts together without grouping them first. Copies of a saved group have their own independent group membership.

How do I pan, zoom and orbit?

In Plan, drag empty space to pan. To pan over a component, hold Space while dragging, or use the middle mouse button. Scroll to zoom around the pointer, or use the Zoom slider. Reset view restores the default Plan position and 100% zoom.

In 3D, drag empty space to orbit, right-drag to pan and scroll to zoom. Dragging a selected component moves it. Frame project fits the complete project, including the booth floor when one is set.

Should the 3D view jump when I click a component?

Selecting or deselecting a component, highlighting a face and editing the layout now preserve your 3D camera position and viewing target. The earlier jump caused by clicking a component has been fixed.

Use Frame project when you want to fit the layout back into view. Dragging empty space still orbits, right-dragging pans and scrolling zooms. If you still see the old click behavior, save your project and refresh the app to load the latest version.

What do P01, P02 and the other references mean?

P references identify individual components. They run clockwise around the fixed Plan layout, starting at the upper-left, with outer boundaries numbered before inner ones. Pieces at the same Plan position are ordered from bottom to top.

Adding, moving or removing pieces can update the sequence. Camera movement and zoom do not. Plan labels, the inspector, connector review and PDFs use the same references; regenerate older PDFs after changing the layout.

06

Saving & project files

Keep a working copy and take your project to another computer.

What is the difference between autosave, Save and Export JSON?

Autosave keeps the current working drawing in this browser. Save stores a named project in the browser’s project list; Save As creates a separate named copy. Use Open projects to return to a saved project.

Export JSON downloads a portable .matrixcad.json file. It includes components, groups, graphic assignments, uploaded preview images, placed furniture and its embedded GLB models, connector overrides and the floor area. Use this file for backups, sharing or moving between browsers and computers.

Browser saves do not sync between devices and can be lost if browser data is cleared. Use the Save button to save a project; Ctrl/Cmd+S is not an app save shortcut. S by itself activates Scale.

Will I be warned about unsaved changes before opening another project?

Yes. Opening a saved project, starting New or completing a JSON or SketchUp import shows You have unsaved changes if the current drawing differs from its saved version.

Save and continue saves the current project before switching. If saving fails, the current drawing stays open and the dialog shows the error. Don’t save discards those unsaved edits and continues. Cancel or Esc keeps the current drawing open without switching.

The Unsaved changes label below the drawing clears after Save, or after Undo restores the saved contents. Autosave keeps a recovery copy but does not clear this label or replace saving a named project. A temporary measurement does not mark the project as changed.

How do I open a saved JSON project?

Save or export the current drawing first. Opening an imported project replaces the current drawing and starts a new undo history; it does not merge the two projects.

  1. Click Upload JSON beside Export JSON in the top toolbar, or Open projects → Import JSON file.
  2. Choose a saved .matrixcad.json or compatible project .json file from your computer.
  3. After the project opens, click Save to add it to this browser’s project list.
Why will my JSON file not import?

Use a project file exported by Roark Booth Builder, or a SketchUp exchange file created by the Roark extension. A generic JSON file is not a project. Project JSON files can be up to 20 MB, or 100 MB when they contain uploaded 3D models; Roark SketchUp exports can be up to 100 MB through either upload button. Invalid JSON and unsupported catalog or rule versions are rejected.

Check the message in the drawing’s status area. Invalid project files leave the current drawing unchanged. A recognized .sketchup.json export opens the SketchUp preview for review.

07

Importing from SketchUp

Bring recognized library components into an editable booth project.

How do I import a SketchUp model?

Save or export your current drawing first. The import opens a new project in its place. You will need SketchUp Desktop and the Roark exchange extension.

  1. Download the Roark exchange extension (.rbz) below. In SketchUp Desktop, choose Extensions → Extension Manager → Install Extension and select it. Update an older Roark importer with this version.
  2. Open your model in SketchUp. Keep the original beMatrix library components, definition names and geometry; avoid exploding parts.
  3. Choose Extensions → Export to CAD Studio… to save a .sketchup.json file.
  4. In Booth Builder, click Import SketchUp and select the exported file. Review the part counts, import notes and omitted scene objects.
  5. Adjust the import options as needed, then click Open imported project. Review joints, reassign graphics and save the project.
Download SketchUp exchange extension .rbz ↓
My SketchUp export exceeds 20 MB. How do I open it?

The SketchUp file limit is now 100 MB. Retry your existing .sketchup.json file using Import SketchUp or Upload JSON; a 30 MB export no longer needs to be split into smaller models.

For smaller future exports, install Roark exchange extension version 1.1.1 or later and export again. It writes compact JSON with the same component data, transforms and precision. Older formatted exports remain supported. Files over 100 MB should be exported again with the updated extension.

Can I upload a .skp, STEP or arbitrary 3D file directly?

The supported inputs are Booth Builder project JSON and the Roark .sketchup.json exchange format. Open a .skp file in SketchUp Desktop and export it with the extension first. Direct .skp, STEP/STP, OBJ and generic mesh import are not available.

SketchUp import recognizes supported catalog components. It does not convert arbitrary meshes, and it is not a lossless round trip of the builder’s outgoing .dae models.

Why are some SketchUp objects missing or changed?

The preview reports skipped recognized parts separately from unrecognized components and omitted scene geometry. Review both lists: zero recognized parts skipped does not mean that every source object transferred.

Supported library families include straight, trapezium, PIE and 90° curved frames, doors, S04 posts, LEDskin, iZi counters and high tables. Unsupported sizes, scaling, mirrors, skew or altered definitions may be skipped. Restore exploded parts to their original library components before exporting again.

Graphics, artwork, loose geometry, worktops and detailed fittings are omitted. Doors appear closed. Supported components use the builder’s catalog geometry, and connectors are recalculated after import.

What do the SketchUp import options do?

Place counters on the same floor as the structure brings counters to the common floor while preserving relative heights of raised and overhead frames. Keep SketchUp elevations for every part instead moves the entire model together. The model is centered in the workspace.

Use nearest catalog post lengths allows up to 6 mm of adjustment to a supported post length. Use catalog equivalents maps certain legacy LED corners and storage doors to current catalog parts. Both options start enabled, and adjustments or substitutions appear in the preview notes.

Review connections after importing, especially where a post length changed. Importing does not automatically close gaps.

08

Graphics & exports

Prepare artwork, parts lists, drawings and a SketchUp model.

How do I select faces and create print groups?

Open Graphics from the toolbar or the view tabs. Click a visible face to add or remove it from the selection; selected faces turn green, or show a green outline when they have an image. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, and rotate around the model to select the opposite side. Graphics mode keeps components in place while you select faces.

Choose Create SEG textile group or Create panel group, enter a Group name and bleed, then click Create group. SEG combines adjacent coplanar faces into one rectangular textile. A panel group normally keeps separate numbered pieces, such as A01–A03. Check Single Panel PVC to make one full-size sheet across a complete rectangle of selected flat faces. Door surrounds and leaves create individual pieces from one selected face. Front and back faces can belong to different groups.

Click a saved group to highlight its faces, edit its settings and open its image controls directly below its face list. Update group settings keeps the existing faces; Replace group faces with selection explicitly changes membership. Remove group clears its assignments without removing components, and Undo restores it. A face already assigned to another group must be released before regrouping.

Browse faces provides checkboxes for precise or keyboard selection. Groups can be created, updated and removed in furnished booths; furniture and uploaded props keep their separate settings. Group assignments save with the project and Export JSON. If components move so a group is no longer coplanar, the group reports an issue and plan/template exports pause until it is fixed. Unsupported profiles are identified rather than given estimated cut sizes.

Can I upload pictures or PDF graphics to preview my booth?

Yes. In Graphics, create a print group or click an existing group, such as L. Its Booth preview image controls appear inside that group, directly below its faces. Choose Upload image there; selecting another group shows that group’s image controls. Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF up to 20 MB. Image files can have up to 40 million pixels. The picture appears on the assigned faces in both Graphics and 3D; drag to orbit and see the booth from other angles.

For a PDF, Choose a PDF page opens a preview. Use Previous/Next or enter a Page number and press Enter, then click Use page to apply it. Cancel keeps the existing image. The page is converted locally to a preview image, respecting the PDF’s visible page area and rotation; visible margins and printer marks are included. Password-protected PDFs need an unlocked copy. Replace image lets you upload the PDF again to choose a different page.

One image spans the whole group, including adjacent frames and S04 post faces. Opposite sides can have different images. Panel groups display one continuous image across their separate pieces; create separate groups for independently designed panels. Single curved graphics follow the curve. If a group is no longer coplanar, fix its faces before previewing a continuous image. With Show images on in 3D, schematic connector markers on pictured components are hidden for a clear preview; select a connector type under Calculated connectors to review them. Quantities are unchanged.

Show images below Frame project turns all uploaded pictures and PDF page previews on or off in Graphics and 3D. Turning it off shows face colors without removing uploads. Single Panel PVC keeps its continuous outline; other groups show individual face boundaries for selection. The switch stays the same when changing views during this session; reopening the app starts with images on. It is a viewing control, so it does not change Save, Export JSON or Undo/Redo. Graphics plan exports have their own Include images on plan checkbox.

With images on, a continuous SEG group hides the lines between its frames and S04 faces. Its outer boundary remains visible in Graphics. Regular PVC panel groups keep individual panel outlines and the exposed metal gaps between frame panels; Single Panel PVC covers the full rectangle without an internal seam, even with images off; tape-applied S04 PVC keeps its full face size. Selecting an individual face can show a temporary editing outline; select the whole SEG or Single Panel PVC group, or clear the selection, to see its continuous finish. Turning images off restores individual SEG face boundaries for editing.

The selected group’s image controls also offer Replace image, Remove image and Image fit. Image fit offers Fill · crop edges (centered cropping), Fit · show whole image (white space where needed), and Stretch · match graphic. Replace image changes the picture; Remove image keeps the graphic assignment. Undo/Redo also restores image changes, and copied components retain their images.

Images and selected PDF pages are processed locally into optimized previews, with transparency flattened to white. Save, automatic recovery and Export JSON include the preview and its filename/page number; the original PDF is not stored. Repeated faces share one stored copy. Browser storage is limited, so export JSON if a storage warning appears. Graphics plan PDFs and Group SVG can include these previews. Keep the full-resolution originals for printing: Illustrator templates, Template SVG preview, Group DXF, drawing/assembly PDFs and SketchUp exports do not embed them.

How do I print one PVC sheet across a face and an adjoining frame edge?

In Graphics, select every face the sheet will cover, including the main face and any adjoining exposed frame edges. Choose Create panel group, check Single Panel PVC, enter a Group name and bleed, then Create group. You can also select an existing panel group, change this checkbox and click Update group settings. To add faces to an existing group, select them and click Replace group faces with selection. Faces assigned to a different group must be released first.

Single Panel PVC uses the full combined rectangle with no panel deduction, Roark fabric allowance, blockout allowance or Cut Keder. A 496 mm face plus the adjoining perpendicular frame’s 62 mm edge makes a 558 mm wide sheet (21.97 in). Height is the full selected span. Bleed stays outside the cut-size artboard.

The group has one numbered PVC piece, such as A01, in the schedule, graphics plan, Group SVG/DXF and Illustrator templates. Upload image below the selected group’s faces applies one picture across the sheet. The preview hides the internal seam; selecting an individual face can still show an editing outline. Save, Export JSON, Undo/Redo and duplication preserve the option and artwork.

Selected faces must be flat, on the same plane and form one complete rectangle without gaps, overlaps or bends. This supports straight rectangular frame faces, exposed frame edges and S04 faces; curved, shaped and door profiles are excluded. A covered frame edge cannot be included. If moving components breaks the rectangle or covers an edge, exports pause until it is fixed. Uncheck Single Panel PVC and update the group to return to separate pieces with the regular beMatrix deductions; frame edges and tape-applied S04 faces keep their full sizes.

Can I apply PVC to the exposed ends, top or bottom of a frame?

Yes. Straight rectangular frames have left edge, right edge, top edge and bottom edge faces in Graphics. Click an exposed edge in 3D or use Browse faces for precise selection, including the underside. Edge selection switches a new group to PVC; choose Create panel group, enter a Group name and bleed, then Create group. The component inspector also offers these faces under GRAPHIC FACES; choose Hard panel. Edge strips are PVC only.

Cuts use the full exposed face, without the 0.28 in front/back panel deduction or any SEG allowance. An upright 992 × 2418 mm frame gets 62 × 2418 mm left/right strips (2.44 × 95.20 in), or 62 × 992 mm top/bottom strips (2.44 × 39.06 in). Bleed remains outside the cut-size artboard. The dimensions and faces follow the frame when it is rotated, laid sideways or tipped into a roof.

Only fully exposed edges are available. A neighboring frame, post or other component touching any part of the face blocks the whole strip; joined ends and stacked contacts show Covered in Browse faces. An attached baseplate can also cover an edge. The floor alone does not block the bottom face. This creates whole strips, not partial strips around obstructions.

If a later move or duplicate covers a saved edge graphic, the assignment remains saved and its group reports the covered edge. Plan and template export for that group pauses until you expose the edge again or remove the assignment. Undo can restore the previous layout. Coplanar edges can share a panel group while keeping separate numbered strips; perpendicular edges need separate groups.

Upload image also works on edge strips, including PDF pages. Images appear on the 3D strip and can appear in graphics plans. Save, Export JSON, copying and Undo/Redo preserve the assignments. Graphics schedule CSV, Group SVG/DXF, graphics plan PDF and Illustrator templates use the same full-face dimensions. This edge workflow covers straight rectangular frames; curved, shaped and door products keep their existing documented graphic faces.

What units do graphic templates and measurements use?

Graphic measurements display in inches rounded to two decimal places, including trailing zeros. This applies to the group preview, Infill dimensions & sources, graphics plan PDF and Group SVG dimensions, template labels, and Graphics schedule CSV. For example, a 985 × 2411 mm manufacturer panel displays as 38.78 × 94.92 in.

Illustrator templates use inch rulers, SVG templates declare their physical size in inches, and Group DXF uses 1:1 inch coordinates. Exact cut geometry, source dimensions, Roark allowances and saved bleed stay at full precision; only labels and CSV measurements are rounded. A saved 0.125 in bleed displays as 0.13 in on labels while the actual bleed remains 0.125 in. Bleed per side (in) keeps the exact entered value.

The original beMatrix source PDFs retain their manufacturer units. General drawing/assembly PDFs still use the units chosen in Create documents.

How do I create graphic templates for Illustrator?

Illustrator templates use the current project’s saved group assignments. Click Create group or Update group settings before downloading changes.

Each named artboard (canvas) matches the graphic’s cut width and height, including the Roark allowance and any enabled blockout allowance. Bleed is a native Illustrator document setting outside the artboard, not extra canvas size. For example, a standard S04 PVC graphic displays as 2.44 × 95.20 in. Illustrator rulers use inches, and bleed extends beyond each edge.

Extend your artwork to the red bleed boundary. Illustrator uses one bleed setting for the whole document, so templates with different saved bleed values open in separate documents. Cut Keder contours stay aligned to the cut-size artboard. The graphics schedule CSV lists artboard dimensions and dimensions including bleed separately, in inches to two decimal places.

  1. Open Graphics and create named SEG textile or panel groups from the selected faces.
  2. Set Bleed per side (in) and, for SEG, optional Is Blockout Fabric and Cut Keder. Save the group settings.
  3. Use Template SVG preview to check cut outlines and the surrounding bleed. This overview includes space to display bleed; use the Illustrator export for cut-size artboards with native bleed. Group SVG shows the elevation plan instead.
  4. Choose Illustrator templates (.jsx). In Illustrator, run File → Scripts → Other Script…, select the .jsx, then save the result as .ai.
  5. When saving a production PDF in Illustrator, select Use Document Bleed Settings under Marks and Bleeds to include the outside bleed.
How do I add extra material for SEG blockout fabric?

Select Create SEG textile group or open an existing SEG group, then check Is Blockout Fabric and click Create group or Update group settings. It is unchecked by default and available only for SEG. Checked groups are marked Blockout fabric in the saved group list.

Blockout adds 0.25 in on each of the four outside edges: 0.50 in to total width and 0.50 in to total height. It is added separately from the existing Roark small-size allowance and from bleed. For a continuous textile across multiple frames, it applies once around the complete graphic. Products with separate textile pieces receive the addition on each piece.

Infill dimensions & sources lists the base size, Roark allowance, blockout allowance and final template size separately. Illustrator and SVG production templates include the extra material in the cut-size artboards; bleed remains outside. Cut Keder seam positions shift by 0.25 in to align with the added edge material. The graphics schedule CSV includes Is Blockout Fabric and Blockout allowance per side in columns.

Save, automatic recovery, Export JSON, copying and Undo/Redo retain the checkbox. Uncheck it and update the group to remove only the blockout addition. Existing projects open with it off. The installed booth preview and nominal dimensions in graphics plans, Group SVG and Group DXF stay at the visible size; plan notes identify blockout fabric and explain the separate production allowance. PVC never receives this addition.

Can I extend SEG onto an S04 post or tape PVC to it?

Yes. All four long faces of an S04 post are selectable in Graphics. Click the face in 3D, or use Browse faces for a narrow strip. The faces are front, back, left and right; on a horizontal S04, the left and right faces become top and bottom. End caps are excluded.

Select a post face together with adjacent frame faces to make one SEG textile group. The faces must be flush on the same plane and fill one complete rectangle. To extend an existing SEG, select its group, add the post face, then click Replace group faces with selection. The visible textile size uses the guide’s 2.17 in extension at each outside textile-square edge, before the separate Roark allowance and bleed. For example, one 39.06 in frame plus one outside S04 face gives a 41.22 in visible span. The 3D model still uses the physical 2.44 in post width; internal post spans are not shortened.

For tape-applied PVC, use Create panel group. Select the saved group to see its cut sizes beneath the preview. Each S04 piece uses the full face dimensions with no subtraction: a standard post needs a 2.44 × 95.20 in piece. This also applies after resizing or laying the post horizontally. Frame panels in the same group still use their own 0.28 in deduction. PDF, DXF, SVG, Illustrator templates and the graphics schedule use these same cut sizes; bleed remains separate.

Can one graphic cover several frames?

Create SEG textile group combines flat frame and S04 faces that form one complete rectangle; supported roof faces can also be combined. Panel groups always retain separate pieces and templates, including the gaps between installed panels.

Production templates use the June 3, 2026 beMatrix infill guides for base dimensions: straight frame panels subtract 0.28 in once from width and height, and curves use the listed inside/outside developed widths. Tape-applied S04 PVC keeps your full-face rule. Roark’s printer allowance is separate: SEG adds 0.50 in once to each finished piece’s dimension of 39.00 in or less, or once to each total dimension of a continuous group. Bleed remains separate.

The Illustrator builder creates named CMYK artboards and, when enabled, the Cut spot-color layer with 0.28 in V-notches at frame connections. Resolve unsupported profiles or invalid groups before exporting templates.

Which beMatrix infill dimensions do the graphics exports use?

The supplied June 3, 2026 b62 straight-frame, curved-frame, door and iZi guides are the dimension sources. In Graphics, open Infill dimensions & sources for the selected group to see the base dimensions, separate Roark allowance, final template size, source page and product notes. The beMatrix infill guides section opens the original PDFs. Previously saved assignments recalculate with these rules when opened; bleed and uploaded artwork stay saved.

Straight frames use frame size for visible textiles and frame size minus 0.28 in for front/back panels. Exposed frame-edge PVC strips use the full face under the separate Roark rule, with no deduction. Supported curves use the exact inside/outside width table and frame height (textile) or height minus 0.28 in (panel). Outside SEG notes list the separate supporting panel from the textile page; it is not automatically ordered as a printed graphic. Manufacturer visible textile dimensions are not sewing dimensions: the Roark production allowance is applied separately.

Trapezium templates follow the actual slope, using a 0.14 in perpendicular panel inset; the 95.20 in catalog variant derives the same inset from the 97.64 in example. The 496 PIE panel follows its 19.25 × 19.25 in contour with a 16.79 in radius. SVG, DXF, PDF and Illustrator preserve shaped outlines and cutouts. Curved cuts use fine line segments. Illustrator artboards match contour bounds, and bleed remains outside.

The 992 × 2418 pivot door exports a separate U-shaped surround and door leaf. These are blank/no-lock, no-porthole profiles; lock, handle, cover-plate and porthole cuts need the hardware-specific drawings on door-guide pages 10–21. The 992 × 992 double storage door exports its surround and two leaves; its panel surround includes the documented lock hole. One picture covers the separate pieces without filling the door gaps. Product location views stay schematic; the developed elevation shows the cut pieces and artwork.

iZi components have named faces under Browse faces, including sides, inside panels and tops where documented. The iZi-bar front / SEG wrap is one 87.87 × 39.06 in developed textile around the front and both sides; its two door leaves remain separate. Other supported iZi finishes use their panel dimensions. The panel workflow also covers Dibond/HPL dimensions; PVC is not appropriate for every item. The tablet holder notes recommend Dibond because PVC is not stiff enough. Worktops are separate catalog parts and are not silently added to print groups.

The app blocks only profiles it cannot verify: the PIE textile drawing conflicts with the R430 product, the Barfly curved-end callouts disagree by 0.02 in, and the tablet’s 14.02 × 14.02 in top needs a device-specific cutout. The Barfly developed panel and straight attachment panel remain available. Unspecified door families and textile finishes absent from the iZi guide remain unavailable. Resolve or exclude an affected group before exporting; choose Selected group to export another valid group.

How do I export graphics plans like beCAD?

In Graphics, choose All groups or Selected group under Export groups, then Export graphics plan PDF. The A3 landscape PDF has a project cover, then a sheet for each group with its name, SEG/PANEL type, drawing scale, elevation, identifiers, sizes and a vector location view. Large panel lists continue on another sheet. Project details lets you enter client, preparer, revision and date.

Include images on plan is checked by default. Applied pictures and selected PDF pages appear in the group elevation, sidebar preview and Group SVG using their saved Image fit setting. Flat graphics also show artwork on the cover and location views; curved location views stay schematic, with artwork on the developed elevation. SEG stays continuous, while PVC images are clipped to the separate cut panels and leave their installed gaps. Labels have white backgrounds so they remain readable over artwork. Uncheck it for an outline plan; the Show images switch in 3D does not change exports. These are optimized visual previews, not print-ready artwork.

Show dimensions on plan switches between dimensioned and plain layout sheets, with measurements in inches to two decimal places; both keep location views and size lists. Print at 100% for the stated scale. SEG elevation dimensions show the manufacturer’s visible infill span; production template allowances and bleed are listed separately in the template exports.

Select a group for Group SVG or Group DXF. DXF contains 1:1 outlines in inches and panel labels; it preserves installed gaps and is CAD exchange output, not a native DWG file. Group SVG includes applied artwork when Include images on plan is checked. Export groups also controls which groups appear in Illustrator templates, Template SVG preview and Graphics schedule CSV.

How do I make drawings or assembly instructions?

Click Create documents, choose Drawing and parts package or Assembly guide, enter the project details, then click Download PDF. Choose millimeters, inches or both.

The drawing package includes an isometric overview, dimensioned plan and elevations, parts and connector quantities, placements, joint details, assigned graphics and review notes. Assembly guide adds a suggested illustrated build sequence.

PDFs use the current drawing, including unsaved changes and connector overrides. Part colors and P references help identify pieces; colors do not represent actual finishes. Drawings and assembly order are schematic and need installation review.

Where do I get a parts list or connector quantities?

The right-hand bill of materials updates from the drawing. Click Export BOM CSV for a spreadsheet-ready list grouped by Frames, Connectors, Doors, Posts, Curves, Furniture and Accessories. Baseplates appear under Accessories.

Review joints shows calculated connections and unresolved cases. Click a type under Calculated connectors to highlight its locations in Plan or 3D, then use Fit locations to find them. Clear or Esc removes the highlights.

Review unresolved joints and placeholder ordering codes before using the list for purchasing. Unsupported connections do not receive guessed hardware.

How do I export my design to SketchUp?

Click Export SketchUp, choose the panel and hardware options, then click Download SketchUp file (.dae). Install the Roark exchange extension in SketchUp Desktop if needed.

In SketchUp, choose Extensions → Import Roark Booth Builder model… and select the .dae file. The extension preserves names, groups and smooth curves. Save the imported model as .skp when ready.

The export uses presentation geometry and schematic hardware positions. Keep an Export JSON backup for reopening the complete editable Booth Builder project.

Common questions

A few things to check when a control does not do what you expect.

Why is a shortcut not working?

Drawing shortcuts pause while you are editing a text field, choosing from a select menu or using a dialog. In Graphics, click toggles faces, Esc clears the face selection, and Undo/Redo remain available; component move, copy, rotate and delete shortcuts are inactive.

Move, Rotate, Duplicate and Delete need a selection. Scale needs one supported component. Esc cancels the current tool or drag first; press it again if you still need to clear highlights or selection. On Mac use Cmd for the command shortcuts; on Windows use Ctrl.

Why is a move, resize or duplicate blocked?

Check the status message below the drawing. The builder rejects collisions and placements below the floor, and prevents doors from stacking above other doors. Duplicate only shows available placement positions.

A shared baseplate needs both host frames to move together. Remove the plate before separating its frames. An individual baseplate also needs a sufficiently wide installed bottom rail, so remove it before resizing or tipping beyond that limit.

What does an unresolved joint mean?

The detected contact does not match a supported connector rule. Open Review joints and use Select connected parts to locate it. Check for gaps, overlaps, incomplete edge contact or an unsupported assembly.

Connector quantities and locations are based on the supported assembly rules. Unresolved connections and ordering-code warnings remain in the exports so they can be reviewed. A clean joint review does not certify structural stability or installation safety.
